ANTONIO REYES Y JESÚS MÉNDEZ
Les Arts és Flamenco brings together on the same stage two of
today’s most acclaimed cantaores, Antonio Reyes and Jesús Méndez,
both from the province of Cadiz. Antonio Reyes belongs to a family
with a deep-rooted flamenco tradition, as he is the grandson of
Antonio Montoya, nephew of “Jarrito” and related to “Pansequito”.
He performed for the first time at the age of seven, when he
already captivated listeners with his penetrating and sincere
voice. His career was consolidated after winning prizes at the
Memorial Camarón de la Isla and the Bienal de Flamenco in Seville.
Jerez-born Jesús Méndez also comes from an important line of
cantaores, the Méndez family, especially his great aunt, “la
Paquera de Jerez”. His voice already sounded powerful, “like the
eruption of a volcano”, when he made his debut at a very young age.
From then on, he became one of the most sought-after artists at
festivals such as the Jerez festival and the biennial festivals of
Malaga and Seville.
