our time following her performance at the Salzburg Festival in
2019, which earned her a prize at the Opera Awards, Asmik Grigorian
opens the Lied cycle with a select programme of songs by
Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, accompanied on piano by her fellow
countryman Lukas Geniušas. The Lithuanian soprano is one of those
voices that instantly captivates through her pure beauty of timbre
and expressiveness. She is also an extraordinary actress, as her
acclaimed performances of the leading roles in Rusalka, Jenůfa,
Madama Butterfly, Il trittico, Pique Dame and The Flying Dutchman
on the greatest stages attest.
