Rebelo de Andrade, artistically known as Carminho,
is one of the most renowned singers of the new generation of
Portuguese music performers. She is an artist of international
renown, and critics consider her incomparable for her voice,
talent, compositions and determination. For Carminho “there is no
new fado. Fado is a living language that is transformed over
generations and through the way fadistas grow with their culture".
Born in Lisbon, the cradle of the great names of this traditional
genre from Portugal, including Amália Rodrigues, she made her
debut, at only 12 years old. In 2009, she recorded his first album,
Fado, which achieved Platinum status and launched her career. Other
successful records followed, such as Perdóname with Pablo Alborán,
which reached number 1 in Spain, and Canto, in collaboration with
Caetano Veloso. This year 2023 she publishes Portuguesa, a return
to fado that includes songs with music and lyrics by the artist
herself.
