EL LEGADO DE JORGE PARDO, 50 AÑOS DE MÚSICA
El Legado -The Legacy- of Spaniard Jorge Pardo, a Grammy winner, a world-renowned flautist and saxophonist, who has toured or shared albums with Paco de Lucía, Astrud Gilberto, Camarón de la Isla or Chick Corea. An essential musician in the creation and development of flamenco jazz or flamenco fusion. In this wonderful concert we will enjoy the contributions he has given, and also received from these and other great musical travel companions, in his own compositions, accompanied by Melón Jiménez on guitar and José Manuel Ruiz Motos ‘Bandolero’ on percussion.
The disagreements between flamenco and jazz went on for a long time. It was only at the end of the 1950s that the two styles became unidirectional, an adventure led by Miles Davis and Gil Evans with Sketches of Spain. Pedro Iturralde and Paco de Lucía opened new horizons in 1967, although it was not until the 1980s that Jorge Pardo, playing both saxophone and flute, naturally fused both languages.
