LA SYLPHIDE
Czech National BalletTime for one of the great
romantic ballets, time for La Sylphide, the beautiful
dreamlike girl with whom the young and imaginative James falls in
love, in his desire to embrace a world that transcends earthly
life. The dreams of the leading man are recreated by the Czech
National Ballet in a lavish production choreographed by Johan
Kobborg, which has received rave reviews from critics in theatres
around the world, including Covent Garden in London and the Bolshoi
in Moscow. Principal dancer for many years with the Royal Danish
Ballet and the London Royal Ballet, Johan Kobborg has revived the
original 1836 version by the historic Danish choreographer August
Bournonville, with the music of Herman Løvenskiold, performed in
the pit by the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.
