Les Arts volant is a cultural project of Les Arts, in collaboration with different public administrations of the Region of Valencia, to bring opera to any corner of our geography, especially to small towns with little musical activity or where it would be complicated to carry out a performance due to the lack of technical means or facilities. The aim is to make the fascinating world of opera visible and itinerant, so that everybody can enjoy art and beauty almost at home.
The company travels in a large lorry prepared to transform into a stage on its arrival at the square of any town and, afterwards, a live opera is performed by singers of the Centre de Perfeccionament accompanied on the piano.
Les Arts volant 2023 Tour
The title chosen to be performed in this new tour is Cendrillon, a salon operetta by the composer Pauline Viardot, which is presented in a version adapted to Valencian language, La Ventafocs.
Is it Charles Perrault’s Cinderella or Little Glass Slipper? Is it a gentle reminder of Rossini’s Cenerentola? It is perhaps an operetta for its gentle, worldly genius and for the undeniable hedonistic spirit that runs through the three scenes that make it up, between waltzes and satiric songs, mazurkas and polkas, nostalgic music for a time that was already announcing atonality.
This new production is the result of the fantasy and experience of Joan Font, director, actor and founder of the group Comediants. In his philosophy of participatory theatre, in which magic and illusion flow, he proposes a show that involves the audience in the performance.
