GIANNI SCHICCHI
Opera in one act
Libretto by Giovacchino Forzano,

The new production of this double bill is by the Belgian/French duo
of Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier. Since their debut at Covent
Garden in 2001, their London engagements have been non-stop, and
they won Best Production at the Opera Awards for their Salzburg
Festival Norma. The duo’s work is appreciated for its contemporary
approach to opera, bringing it close to the audiences of today
without deviating from the original dramatic elements. The cast
assembled for the occasion, directed by Michele Spotti, includes
singers who have earned a following at Les Arts, such as the
baritone Ambroglio Maestri, an unforgettable Falstaff, and the
Valencian soprano Marina Monzó, acclaimed in the recent Ballo in
maschera, together with the Peruvian tenor Iván Ayón-Rivas, Mikeldi
Atxalandabaso and Eve-Maud Hubeaux.
