Michael Volle
is not only the Wotan or Flying Dutchman who is most in demand by
conductors and opera houses; his repertoire covers most of the
baritone roles in the operas of Mozart, Strauss, Wagner and Verdi,
and he has also devoted his career to concert and recital
performances, enjoying a solid reputation as a Lieder singer, as
can be seen from his numerous recordings. The German artist's
powerful, wide-ranging voice, rich in nuances and dark tones, is
astonishing in its ability to communicate with the most diverse
audiences. In his first appearance at Les Arts, he will perform a
selection of songs and Lieder by Schubert, Liszt and Ravel,
accompanied on the piano by Helmut Deutsch.
