TAMERLANO
Georg Friedrich Händel 1685-1759
VERSIÓ EN CONCERT
Les Arts has established close links with Handel’s operatic
creations, always led by conductors who are experts in the Baroque
repertoire. Following Orlando (López Banzo), Silla (Biondi),
Partenope (Christie), Ariodante (Marcon) and Alcina (Minkowski), it
is the turn of Tamerlano and the debut of the Belgian conductor
René Jacobs, one of the key musicians of our time, with an
international career in which he has made over 250 recordings as
countertenor and conductor, many of them award-winners. He conducts
the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, an ensemble founded by Thomas
Hengelbrock, and nurtured in historically informed practice. In the
title role is the French countertenor Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian,
whom we already heard in Les Arts as Farnace in Mitridate conducted
by Marc Minkowski. He is accompanied by the Scottish tenor Thomas
Walker as Bajazet.
